About Us

A family business with a passion for wood

First and foremost, we are a family business passionate about wood and products derived from this wonderful resourceful material.

1932

The story began with the founder, Jos De Prins, who started out as head of carpentry for Count Maximillian de Renesse-Breidbach many years ago. As chief carpenter as well as joiner, Jos was responsible for overseeing the restoration of all the wooden components of the Castle de Renesse in Malle. After working successfully as a valued employee for around ten years, Jos De Prins became confident enough to establish his own business in the same field. The aim of this new enterprise was to offer carpentry work of quality and at value for money.

The journey began in 1932 when Jos De Prins laid the foundations of what would eventually become the company known today as Eddy De Prins bvba. In 1965, the running of the business was handed down to Jos’ son, Jan De Prins who in turn passed on the management of the firm to his son, Eddy De Prins in 1987.

At the start of his business venture in 1932, Jos De Prins could never have imagined that such a love for wood would be passed down through the ages with his descendants to rest today with his great grandchildren. The sons of Eddy De Prins still carry the flame that started burning all those years ago, for that all-embracing love for wood and all it entails.

1999

The company of Eddy De Prins passed a turning point in 1999 when it moved both production area and showroom into the current premises at Industrieweg 11 in Beerse. Subsequently, the firm was able to develop new, more efficient working methods through investment in an automated production area and acquisition of the necessary certificates required to supply CE-certified windows to customers on request. Thus, the business was able to adapt to customer needs and become more sensitive to current market trends.

In keeping with development of the business, the company then purchased the premises of Industrieweg 13 and proceeded to launch the production of internal doors and lacquered wood surfaces.

Thus, the company of Eddy De Prins had further expanded production by venturing into the construction of windows and doors which, although undoubtedly look beautiful on their own, offer a total harmonious look when part of a refurbished home! Hence, the creation of this total aesthetic appearance was to be the new aim of the firm.

2016

In 2016, the Eddy De Prins company was faced with a dilemma that required significant choices to be made. This culminated in the business reaching the critical decision to halt the supply of exterior-related joinery in their projects but instead hand over this important work to a reliable and like-minded partner. One such partner was found in the company of Pouleyn in Vichte, who share similar work ethics and a deep love of the wood industry deemed so valuable by the Eddy De Prins firm.

Today, the partnership between Pouleyn and Eddy De Prins still stands with Pouleyn supplying windows, doors and gates and Eddy De Prins responsible for sales, measurements, installations, and technical support. The contributions of both partners produce quality work and a refurbishment completed professionally and to a high standard.

The decision to transfer production of the wooden exterior joinery created new opportunities within the Eddy De Prins company. It enabled the firm to focus on the complete production of wooden stairs and their finish and it also paved the way for necessary investments to be made in the machinery, paint shop and IT departments. One such investment has been the 5-axis CNC machine which is controlled by the software package Staircon.

This advanced device ensures the production of staircases of all types with the package also enabling the company to provide customers with 3D visualisations in the design phase. Furthermore, investment in the paint shop department has ensured that all products are finished by the company according to customer needs and that individual items are matched appropriately and reliably.

Since Eddy’s eldest son, Pieter-Jan De Prins, took over the family business, together with a team of 25 employees, he has endeavoured to further develop the family business.

At the request of customers, this has meant the expansion of the company to include construction of wooden outbuildings and house extensions. This has since led to the establishment of a partnership with the Carpentier company and the subsequent birth of Eddy De Prins OUTDOOR.

Subsequently, the company, Belgiqua, took over responsibility for the parquetry flooring section when a partnership between Eddy de Prins and Belgiqua was established. The parquet showroom was then considerably expanded into a retail area where more than 120 floors could be viewed.
